Beers and a Movie

No plans for a Saturday night surprisingly. So after an afternoon of climbing we threw some plans together and headed out.

Right across from the mall with the movie theater is one of our favorite places, Rustico! They have a fantastic beer menu and quite a few draft beers as well.

First up I ordered the Goose Island Matilda by Goose Island Beer Co of Chicago, IL at 7% abv.

Its considered a Belgian Strong Pale Ale but what really sold me was that it was finished with Brettanomyces yeast. Brettanomyces is one of the strains of yeast that is responsible for sour ales!

It was light and delicious! Perfect for a hot summer day! Lemon and apple tartness, white wine mixed with Belgian funky yeast. But a very clean and crisp finish.

Next Jack and I split the Alvine Wild Undressed by Picobrouwerij Alvinne of Zwevegem, Belgium at 5.2% abv.

It almost tasted something like fruit vinegar, with tart cherries and raspberries. Woody oak barrels and vague, subtle spicing. Funky and acidic. Not too heavy considering its dark consistency. I quite liked it! Next time I wont be splitting it!

With a couple of fantastic beers and appetizers under our belt we headed off to the movie. We saw the Great Gatsby which was just kind of an odd movie, not as subtle as the book.
