Our First Homebrew

No, not this beer. This is the beer I was drinking while we started our day of brewing. While reading a homebrew book, the most common advice was to “relax, have a homebrew” and while I didn’t have a homebrew yet to enjoy, I figured I would relax with this tasty brew, the Scot-Irish by Bridge Brew Works of Fayetteville, WV at 8.3% abv.

My dad and I split the Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro.

This was after we added the hops.

After the hop boils were complete, we moved it to the sink and hooked up the wort chiller to quickly lower the temperature of the beer.

Gotta check the temp a lot. We also packed it in ice.

We opened and split another beer, the New Belgium Lips of Faith Paardebloem.

Transferred to the primary fermenter.

And sprinkled in the packet of yeast.

Then it sat in the primary fermenter for a week before we transferred it to the secondary. After about 6 weeks we bottled the beer. We let it hang out in the bottles for another few weeks, then it was time to drink it!

Ps- the beer turned out great! It was a huge success!
