I guess technically it was our first full day. But after traveling so much I really needed a rest day. We got a bit of sub and hung out by the lake in the morning.
In the afternoon, after the heat of the day, we decided to scope out the approach to the climbing area.
After the hike, we wandered around and eventually found dinner.
We took the train from Milan to Lecco, it took about an hour and twenty minutes.
Our air bnb is beautiful and right on the lake!
We walked around to see the town and get groceries.
Look at those cliffs!
We took the metro to Duomo station which seemed to be the center of everything. It was.
The cathedral museum.
Then we went to the Palazzo Real museum that had a huge MC Escher exhibit.
We saw that the lines had shortened, so we hiked up to the top of the Duomo di Milano cathedral to walk along the terrace.
It was fantastic! You got to go right up to the roof line.
The inside was spectacular too.
Then we made it back to Beer Show for some drinks before dinner.
On the way home we stopped at an outdoor cafe. It sprinkled a little, then completely dumped on us. We huddled under a table umbrella until we could dash inside to eat.
Flying out of Copenhagen was horrible. I had an early flight and I got the 5:07 train to the airport. It was only supposed to take 12 minutes. It took 35. The check in line was one of the longest I’ve ever seen. The guy behind me was telling me about the strike in Brussels, which was where I was flying into. He said with a 5 hour layover he still didn’t have his bags. Fuck. So I last minute decided not to check a bag, it would be tight. Security was a disaster. No ac in this airport and I got to my flight with no time to spare and sweating buckets.
Finally made it to Brussels. I wasn’t able to get my second boarding pass earlier so I get in line to get help. They cancelled my second flight. How am I going to meet Jack in Milan?! Then I had to fly to Frankfurt. So it’s going to take me 3 flights to get there. Sigh.
But who do I meet at my gate in Frankfurt? Jack! All is well with the world.
Our air bnb is cute and we went out fit dinner and beers!
Somehow, I missed posting yesterday. So now you get to see two days at once!
The very famous “Little Mermaid” statute.
The National Museum.
The Christiansborg Palace. I went up in the tower.
These trucks with kids partying and staying sailor hats have been constantly all over the city. I think it’s how they celebrate graduating high school?
Plus sick day means I didn’t do much.
I flew from Tallinn to Copenhagen.
Got to my hostel about 5pm and started walking around.
This terribly sad impaled polar bear is to remind us of global warming.
Then I ended up in Mikkeller bar!
The best one of the night was Black Buffalo (the barrel aged Buffalo Trace)
Yesterday I started to feel a bit sick and today when I woke up I went downhill fast. I woke up with a fever and a stuffy nose.
I still managed to get out.
I walked to the Kadriorg Palace, it was built in 1718 by Peter the Great.
The grounds now have a Japanese garden.
As well as traditional gardens.
On my walk back I grabbed some food and ate in the park. After those couple days of rain, this weather has been lovely. 70 degrees and sunny!
I walked around the outside of the walls later in the evening.
Lots of little unusual art exhibits in that area.
